ABOUT ME

Minoo Shilati has a Doctorate in Psychology and has been licensed since 2008. Having recently sold her successful outpatient program, Vantage Point Recovery, Minoo decided to return to her first passion, private practice. As an ambassador to various communities, especially in the Middle East, Minoo has first-hand experience in understanding the relentless pain that comes about in one’s grief and loss. “It is an unspeakable if not undefinable and personal experience for all.” Minoo also specializes in working with couples. She utilizes an integrative and person-centered approach in helping partners find alignment with one another.

Minoo has a collaborative yet directive style. She recognizes that clients are coming to her to find relief and obtain progress in their daily lives. She honed her skills in various hospitals, clinics and recovery communities, until she saw the opportunity to expand her approach on an outpatient basis. Her business acumen coupled with deep empathy brings a source of quick connectedness and assurance in her competence.

Minoo is currently working on finalizing her first co-authored book with her daughter, Death of Your Dream – When your expectations as a parent blur your ability to “see” your child for who they are.

COLLABORATION

The success of any therapy is based first on the comfort of the client with the provider. Rapport is a key element to feeling seen and heard within the context of our time together. Collaboration is more than just a pro-active engagement; it is a way in which I come to understand how best you receive information and apply it to your life. My job is to assess the quality of your daily functioning and come up with strategies that feel attainable.

Many clients that enter therapy sometimes feel as though they go and might never receive any “tools” to support their feeling better. I have found that a key element in the therapeutic process is ensuring that our work together is realistic, promotes actions that you can reasonably participate and incorporate insight that offers new information from which to make different choices or respond to situations better. Therapy is not the only answer, it is a part of the collective strategies we take to support a life that feels meaningful and satisfying. My job is to work with you in order to create a greater wholeness to all parts of your daily experience.
